Jan-Mar 2026 updates
Look mum, I made it as a baby cartoonist
A page from Lunchtime, my comic that is part of LOOSE ENDS published by Oneshi Press
Welcome to some new faces who were kind enough to visit me at recent tabling events! :)
To those of you who've been around since last year - you did not miss any "monthly" newsletters. I've been dealing with some health issues that landed me in the ER in January. (I am on my partner's employer-provided health insurance plan, thankfully!) Once I felt ok-ish two weeks after that, I was caught up in drawing classes, making comics and tabling every two weeks.
But I'm here now with some goodies.
TL;DR because you've got more important things to get back to:
One of my comics will be published in LOOSE ENDSby Oneshi Press, which is currently getting funding via Kickstarter
My friends are still doing cool things you should know about
I'm tabling at a few locations around North America (see bottom of this email for the list)
LOOSE ENDS by Oneshi Press
LOOSE ENDS is a comics anthology - or a collection of comics by different creators that is all about the unresolved, the unfinished and the wildly mysterious.
My comic Lunchtime - which I created back when I was studying with Sequential Artists Workshop - will be a part of this anthology that will be published by Oneshi Press. Here is a blurb for Lunchtime:
A building manager is making his usual rounds at an apartment block when he notices a door to one of the apartments is slightly ajar. However, the tenant is nowhere to be seen, so he decides to take a look for himself…
If that piques your interest and you like similarly mysterious comics, please consider supporting Oneshi Press by backing the Kickstarter that is funding this book's publication! (Note that it has been fully funded, but if you still back it there are a lot of extra goodies in store.)
Additionally, Oneshi Press interviewed me as part of their launch campaign. I think most of you heard my spiel when you visited my table at an event, but if you really want somewhat-entertaining-ish toilet reading, I cover quite a bit of ground in this interview. Some of which includes:
I stumbled across this cosy comic book store killing time before AZN Zine Fest last month. The owner, Kate, was so kind and enthusiastic about the zines I dug out of my suitcase. In fact, Books With Pictures did a post on their Instagram that highlights what's great about Yakuza Meets Detectives.
(It was always meant to be a one-shot, but I'm tempted to do more comics on this character...)
The zines aren't on sale online yet, but if you are in the area you should go there and pick up a comic and/or zine (doesn't have to be mine, heh).
Cold Hands, Cold Heart #1 is available now!
Cover art for issue #1
My first comic in the Infernally Employed series was released last month! This is the first chapter out of roughly four in the Cold Hands, Cold Heart story.
If you think risograph comics are absolutely beautiful and you're dying to own a limited run copy, you can purchase one for yourself from my store.
Just a heads up, I recently moved my store off Ko-fi and to Big Cartel if you're wondering why things look different!
Additionally, I wrote a longer blog post on Cold Hands, Cold Heart #1. The post includes photos of the inside pages, behind-the-scenes content on printing this comic zine and what to expect in future issues.
I have some amazing cartoonist friends doing hard things that I don't want to shut up about:
Suzan Colón launched her comic series WRASSLIN' CENTAURS back in February which I would describe as a soap opera with Greek mythological creatures. Some of them are pro wrestlers, but you will still get a ton out of this even if you know diddly squat about wrestling. (That would be me... I read this comic for the gorgeous centaurs. #teamjerry)
